Industry Accreditation Cards Expire 31/12/2024

Have you checked your CSCS Card ?

All CSCS affiliated Industry Accreditation Cards (Grandfather Rights) Issued from 1st January 2020 will Expire on 31st December 2024!

Those that hold a CSCS card that has been issued with Industry Accreditation will no longer be able to renew their card from 1st June 2024, and cards issued since January 2020 will expire on 31st December 2024

In order for the holder of any of the affected cards to renew their card they will need to complete a nationally recognised qualification (usually an NVQ or SVQ). We are writing to you today to encourage you to check your card and take action if you are affected.

How do I know if my card is industry accredited?

The rear of your physical CSCS Card will state “industry accreditation.”

Your Virtual card on My CSCS will also show “industry accreditation.”

What do I need to do if this affects me?

In order for the holder of any of the affected cards to renew their card they will need to complete a nationally recognised qualification (usually an NVQ or SVQ).  Those needing to obtain a qualification DO NOT need to attend collage as NVQ/SVQ’S can be obtained using a variety of routes. It is important to take action now, as availability of assessors is likely to become limited as we approach the deadline of 31/12/2024.

You can read more about the changes on the skill card website and CSCS Website

Why is this happening?

This is to meet industry requirements set out by the Construction Leadership Council which state that all construction industry schemes must operate within a nationally recognised qualification providing evidence of a competent workforce.

What Trades does this affect?

We’re focusing on the industry we predominantly work within, but this change affects all occupations, that hold CSCS affiliated cards.  If you hold a skill card, this applies to all levels and occupations that have gained their card using the industry accreditation (Grandfather rights)

What are 1st Step doing about this?

1st Step are reviewing our current workforce, and speaking directly with those affected, as well as end hirers and training providers to obtain advice and provide solutions where possible.

I don't have an Industry accredited card, does this affect me ?

If you've checked your card and you are satisfied this doesnt affect you then that's great news, but we're encouraging everyone to discuss this with their colleagues as there are likely to be a large number of individuals who aren't on social media that may not realise the impact this could have on being able to work.
