Role Overview - Design Manager
The Design Manager will support the Design Engineering Manager throughout the full project lifecycle, from early opportunity and pre-construction stages through to practical completion and soft landings. This role involves close collaboration with Design Engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to monitor and coordinate the delivery of design outputs across RIBA Stages 3, 4, and 5. Key responsibilities include conducting gap analyses, developing package listings or Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDPs), and structuring programmes using Primavera P6.
A crucial aspect of the role is change management, identifying Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and variations and ensuring these are accurately incorporated into the P6 programme through appropriate instructions and compensation events. The Design Manager will also maintain a tracker for standards and regulations in alignment with the works information, alongside continuous baseline monitoring to ensure compliance and consistency.
The role contributes to the establishment and maintenance of design assurance processes, including the development of Verification & Validation (V&V) matrices and Design Management/Technical Assurance Plans. In line with BSRIA BG6 guidance, the Design Manager will oversee the creation and management of a robust Design Responsibility Matrix (DRM).
