We are currently recruiting on behalf of a national PLC company for the following role.

Required: Design Team Lead

Location: Warrington

Contract status: Permanent & full time

Reporting to regional Design Managers, Design Team Leads are responsible for the coordination and production of designs for multi-disciplinary water and waste water projects (treatment and / or infrastructure) for UK clients.

The employer work in partnership and collaboration with customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Their specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill - from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants. Providing services from feasibility and design, to construction and handover. Their Water business provides 'Full Asset Lifecycle Thinking' across projects, in both the clean and waste water environments. Always ensuring they are supporting customers with innovative outcome-based solutions and an exceptional experience. They currently deliver infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for 10 of the largest national water sector companies.

What you'll be doing day to day

  • Provision of engineering design solutions from inception to completion, of multi-disciplinary projects, utilising in-house resources, design partners, and construction personnel
  • Supporting Design Managers to ensure programme and commercial compliance of design appointments
  • Supporting Design Managers to ensure compliance with relevant operating procedures and business processes
  • Providing information to Principal Engineers to ensure appropriate technical governance is applied to all designs
  • Providing information to Principal Engineers to ensure scheme designs adhere to client specifications and standards, operational requirements and retain appropriate levels of operational security
  • Providing information to Principal Engineers to ensure full compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Supporting innovation, value engineering and digital design, offering advice to clients with regard to potential solutions with best whole life cost, challenging design partners and supply chain to ensure cost effectiveness in design activities and solutions through the employer's TOTEX process
  • Working in conjunction with delivery teams to promote integrated project delivery
  • Scoping project requirements through documentation review, site visits and client / supplier discussions
  • Working with external design companies, supply chain and where applicable, clients' designers
  • Mentoring and developing design engineers where appropriate

  • Industry applicable professional qualifications in chosen engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of water and sewage treatment
  • Working knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering design
  • Commercial and contractual awareness
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
