1st Step are currently working with an M&E Building Services and Infrastructure Contractor based in London. They are well established and have a good reputation throughout the industry. Due to continuous growth and an increase in workload, they are looking at expanding their IT department with the addition of a Helpdesk / Systems Administrator.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Head of IT providing daily systems support and administration for the ICT infrastructure, including servers, desktops, laptops and support for local and remote users.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The below is a list of the main responsibilities of the role which you will be exposed to and trained in to become responsible for. This list should not be considered an exhaustive list of duties.
* The administration and support of Windows (Active Directory) High Availability Cluster and desktop architecture, to include Windows 2012 and 2016 servers, Windows 7 and 10 desktop and laptops, MS Office 365 Pro Plus. Further software packages to be added if required
* Support all Servers, Desktops, Laptops, Network and Local Printers. LAN/WAN Infrastructure and support (including WatchGuard Firewall VPN's), VOIP and Mobile Phones and any other system designated as ICT
* Administer Microsoft Exchange 2013 to ensure system availability through archiving of non-current e-mails. Ensure archives are secured to Offline folders (PST) while other solutions are investigated
* Monitor daily Backup as part of the Disaster Recovery Plan
* Ensure Documentation of any new IT Procedures as introduced by the Head of IT is created / updated and controlled in line with company policies and procedures
* Administer current security software (Kaspersky, BMA, BRM and others) while alternative solutions are investigated
* Create/update all control documentation for the issue of ICT equipment and ensure compliance with company asset registration procedures
* Cover for the Head of IT in their absence whilst remaining within their levels of authority and experience / skill and knowledge
* Undertake planned and Ad-hoc IT projects as and when necessary

Requirements / Qualifications:
* Recognised qualification in Information Technology, such as an ONC / HNC or similar
* Holder of a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) qualification
* Technical expertise and a record of achievement in delivering support to IT users
* Patience and empathy when dealing with remote users
* Determination to resolve issues without cutting corners or compromising the business
* General willingness to help and be supportive
* Experience of deploying and configuring WatchGuard VPN firewalls would be beneficial
* Able to work on a flexible basis with regards to working hours (some travel may be required)
* A full UK driving licence
