1st Step Solutions are currently looking to speak to an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer on a contract basis for a residential project based in Central London.

The Purpose:
To liaise with customers, providing them with a quality service with the provision of profitability to the business
To develop strategic accounts with suppliers and sub-contractors to increase cost savings
Increased promotion of brand name and company's strengths to potential clients

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
To conduct vendor assessment evaluation and purchasing audits through sites and supplier visits taking into account Quality Assurance issues, Safety, Health and Environment issues and commercial viability
To provide quotations/advice to the Estimating Manager during the tendering process
To place orders with suppliers in accordance with company procedures
To investigate, assess and evaluate the viability of new suppliers and products
To negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and sub-contractors ensuring contracts are raised in accordance with Group Policies
To ensure all purchasing activity is carried out in accordance with the Group Purchasing Strategy
To represent the company at meetings with suppliers, sub-contractors at a senior level
To represent the department at internal meetings where necessary
To be proactive in the development and training for staff within the department
To carry out performance reviews with departmental staff
To prepare and issue financial reports on specific contract purchasing activities to senior management
To supervise and delegate work to be handled by departmental staff
To undertake other duties as required by the Divisional Purchasing Manager
All staff are required to fulfil their legal duty to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts and omissions, and to follow all guidance and instructions given in this respect

Requirements:
HNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering
Leadership experience with excellent Mechanical technical knowledge
A proven track record of delivery within the M&E installation sector
Experience managing multiple site based team/s
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills at all levels
Knowledge and skills to effectively problem solve
High level of self-motivation, organisational ability and drive to meet deadlines
Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a proven record in procurement activities.
Knowledge of the advantages/disadvantages of the supply chain within the specific business sector
Applicants should possess extensive purchasing experience within the industry
Excellent presentational skills
Possess clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
To have an excellent knowledge of the business sector and a good understanding of the technical, commercial and contractual processes involved
Able to build effective working relations with staff members and external clients to the highest level
Knowledge of feasibility cost planning and prevailing market levels
High level of self-motivation, organisational ability and drive to meet deadlines
Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook packages
Ability to develop new IT programmes
Ability to advise, negotiate and influence at all levels
