We have the following Mechanical role in the South West

Required: Mechanical Supervisor (Building Services/Heating, Plumbing & Gas Installations)

Freelance/temporary role: at least 3months (more likely to be 6 months, possibly on going & potentially a full time position)

Duties: To manage a team of Operatives (including sub or preferred contractors) by applying quality procedures, safe working practices and effective planning, to ensure completion of work in a timely and cost effective manner and demonstrate technical skill, ability and competence beyond that expected of an Advanced Craftsman

Location: Working between project in Devon 80%, Somerset 10% & Dorset 10%

Type of projects: Schools, Healthcare buildings, Military building refurbs - heating, plumbing & gas installs

Hours: 37.5hrs p/w

Start Date: Monday 12/07/21

Pay (CIS): we're happy to negotiate on your behalf

Payments: Weekly

Qualifications required: CSCS Card, SSSTS OR SMSTS, ideally 1st Aid.

Other info: Good Proven Knowledge of Mechanical Industrial Plumbing & Heating + Gas Installations requied. Computer literate. DBS Clearance. MOJ Clearance (but not essential). Own Transport.

Skills/Competencies

The Mechanical Supervisor will have acquired extensive practical knowledge and competence as an Advanced Craftsman to include experience as a 'leading hand'. In addition, the Mechanical Supervisor will have a proven track record for consistently delivering projects to the criteria detailed within "performance measures".

Performance Measures

Control of quality, safety and planning of projects.

Control of labour resources and costs, inline with the provisions made within the estimate, whilst maintaining progress in accordance the requirement of the project programme.

Meet the required productivity levels.

Control of normal material costs / quantities against the provisions made in line with the estimate.

Key Accountabilities

The efficient and profitable use of the labour resources to ensure satisfactory progress is maintained. To continually review priorities and deadlines and consult with their Line Manager when applicable, in order to formulate action plans. To deliver cost effective solutions and client satisfaction.

To supervise all Operatives, Sub or Preferred Contractors under his/her control in accordance with Company Procedures and Safety Regulations.

Ensure that all works undertaken comply with the appropriate British Standards and/or any project specific specification or instructions.

To act as the main site contact for the client, the client's representative, and other trades. They may also be required to represent our company at site progress, reviews and other meetings where applicable.

To ensure that all Apprentices and other Trainees receive adequate and varied on job training. To provide regular reports to the relevant Line Manager on the progress of individual trainees.

To carry out on-site installation works applicable to the skills of the individual.

To ensure all job documentation is completed correctly, in accordance with our Quality Procedures.

To ensure the timely purchasing and delivery of materials and equipment to site. To ensure materials handling is in line with our Quality Procedures, and that wastage is kept to a minimum.

To ensure that all vehicles, plant and equipment is used and maintained in a satisfactory manner.

To ensure that any work variations or extras are recorded and communicated to their Line Manager at regular intervals to ensure timely submission to the client.

To assist their Line Manager with the preparation of specifications, estimates, designs, valuations and health and safety documentation.

To assist their Line Manager to prepare Operations & Maintenance manuals and as-built drawings.
