1st Step Solutions have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join one of the world's leading construction companies in Rickmansworth. You will be working with the Building Services Team and will report to the Senior Finance Business Partner.

The Senior Accountant position will run for approximately 3 months whilst the team source a permanent candidate, although temp to perm is an option, dependent on suitability.

Our client are looking for someone who has:
* Managed a team before (this person will be managing an accountant and an assistant accountant)
* Someone who is able to inspire and lead the team, with a confident and personable approach
* Lots of fresh ideas and a can-do attitude, who could look at advising on improvements to current processes

Responsibilities of a Senior Accountant:
* Assist and support the Senior Finance Business Partner with development and management of Operating Unit Finance team
* Timely production of accurate insightful monthly management accounts in accordance with internal and International accounting policies
* Monitoring of the Operating Unit results against forecasts and provide variance analysis for leadership team review
* Provide key support and analysis for the rolling quarterly forecast
* Production (with Accountant) and review of full balance sheet reconciliation and identification of potential risks/opportunities
* Ensure financial processes/controls are adhered to and to identify/implement improvements in processes and systems as appropriate
* Review and challenge Project Financials at Forecast & Review meetings
* Production and review of VAT returns, PSA and other tax returns (with Accountant)
* Oversee the control recharges to contracts (and Joint Ventures where applicable)
* Ensure the Joint Ventures process with other operating units runs smoothly with good oversight
* Management and control of accounting systems
* Manage the interim and year-end audit process working with External Auditors
* Provide year end statutory and adhoc information to Group Finance

* Qualified accountant

* Minimum of 5 year's experience in a similar role from a similar industry
* Advanced Excel and system proficiency essential
* Strong knowledge and ability to pick up accounting and general ledger systems
* Strong people management skills
* Ability to hit the ground running
* Must be available to interview this week and available immediately if successful
