We are currently recruiting on behalf of a national PLC company for the following role

Required: Site Engineer

Location: Jersey

Contract status: Permanent & full time

An opportunity has arisen for a Site Engineer to initially work on a prestigious project on the island of Jersey, for this role you will require experience in successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes predominantly to the Water Industry focused on clean water for a Major Projects Business.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Site Engineer is responsible for setting out line and level control for a site including adherence to the Q&A procedure set in place. The Site Engineer is responsible for communication of information to all trades over multiple disciplines. You must be able to competently understand all civil engineering drawings and be able to spot potential areas either for error or for value engineering to improve programme and cost. Be conversant in setting out and surveying techniques and modern instrumentation. Upon completion of this project, you will be posted to other projects on the UK mainland across the employer's water business.

What you'll be doing day to day

  • Setting out, levelling and surveying the site
  • Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy
  • Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications
  • Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant
  • Reviewing and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or designer
  • Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project
  • Occasional day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors
  • Implementing quality control and health and safety matters on site
  • Preparing reports as required
  • Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise

The experience the employer is looking for in a candidate

  • An industry applicable qualification
  • Heavy civil engineering experience is essential
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • CSCS
  • SMSTS
  • First Aid
  • CAD experience (but not essential)
  • Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture
  • Trustworthy and ethical approach, exercising discretion where required
  • Organised, structured and professional, with a passion for excellence
  • Flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
  • Commitment to the provision of excellent customer service

  • Self starter who has the ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
