At 1st Step Solutions, we’re proud to support the next generation of talent by opening our doors to students for valuable work experience. This past week, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting two enthusiastic individuals who’ve brought energy, curiosity, and a fresh perspective to our business.
A Personal Perspective – Oscar in Bristol
One of our Owners had the unique experience of welcoming his son, Oscar, into the business for the week.
“It’s been great seeing him get a feel for the working world — asking good questions, picking things up quickly, and getting involved wherever he can. It’s a strange but rewarding thing to show your lad what you do day-to-day — and even better when they actually take an interest. Proud of how he’s handled himself — and enjoying the company too.”
Oscar threw himself into the experience, and we’re proud to have been part of his 1st step into the world of work.
Growing in Experience – Amy Returns in Basildon
We were also delighted to welcome Amy back to our Basildon office for a return placement. Amy had previously spent time with us, and this week has allowed her to build on that foundation.
“Returning to 1st Step Solutions for work experience has allowed me to build on my previous experience and grow my skills further. Over these opportunities I’ve learnt how a recruitment business operates and how clients are managed. I’ve developed key skills such as time management, teamwork, and professional communication – all of which will support my future career in business management.”
Amy was given a range of responsibilities, from sourcing candidates to supporting client relationships – and approached each task with professionalism and purpose.
She summed it up perfectly:
“This experience has shown me why companies should offer work experience – it builds confidence, develops essential skills, and helps young people explore their future careers.”
