About the Role

1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Mechanical QA Manager based in Windlesham on a permanent basis.

Role Overview
You will lead quality assurance activities across high profile projects in sectors such as Data Centres, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, and Power Generation. Your role will ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain project-specific Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) in alignment with client specifications and quality management system.
* Lead and mentor the mechanical QA team, fostering a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement. Conduct training sessions to enhance team competencies.
* Ensure adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards and GMP requirements. Perform internal audits and coordinate with external auditors to maintain certification.
* Evaluate and monitor supplier performance, ensuring that materials and services meet quality standards. Address non-conformances and implement corrective actions as necessary.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding quality matters. Provide regular quality reports and updates, addressing any client concerns promptly.
* Analyse quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Lead initiatives to enhance quality processes and reduce defects.
* Oversee the compilation and delivery of quality documentation, including turnover packs and as-built records, ensuring smooth project handovers to clients.

Required Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years in mechanical quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the construction or engineering sector.
* Experience in Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, or Power Generation projects is essential.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Familiarity with quality management software is advantageous.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, pipework, public health, etc.)
