Here at 1st Step Solutions, we are supporting an established Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor who are currently recruiting a Logistics/Stores Person to support with the movement and control of materials, tools, and equipment on a key project based in West Suffolk (IP27).
The business has been established for over 75 years, employing over 100 staff and turning over £40m per year, delivering projects nationally for Tier 1 Contractors.
The Logistics/Stores Person would be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the stores and warehouse, ensuring materials and tools are received, checked, stored, and delivered efficiently. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in construction or M&E logistics who is dependable, proactive, and safety conscious.
Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and check deliveries of M&E materials and equipment
- Organise and store items safely and efficiently in the warehouse
- Prepare and deliver materials to project sites in line with schedule requirements
- Assist with stock control and inventory checks
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised stores environment
- Record material movements using stock systems or manual logs
- Conduct basic checks on tools and equipment (e.g. visual inspections, PAT tag checks)
- Assist with tool and plant tracking and ensure timely returns from site
- Communicate with site teams and suppliers to support smooth operations
- Follow health & safety procedures at all times during manual handling and vehicle use
Requirements
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics role, ideally in the construction or M&E sector
- Basic knowledge of M&E materials and tools
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with stock control systems
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Forklift licence (Desirable)
