About the Role

1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E contractor who have an opportunity for Mechanical Project Manager on a permanent basis for a project in Central London.

Our client delivers complex engineering solutions across data centres, building services, energy and industrial sectors.

The Role:
Mechanical Project Manager to join our client's team in delivering a landmark scheme above in central London.
This is a technically complex project involving a mix of cut & carve and new build, delivering a CAT A commercial office fit-out over live retail units, with full mechanical infrastructure.
You will take ownership of mechanical delivery across the project lifecycle, working closely with construction, commercial, and design teams to drive programme, quality, and performance.
There is also a strong pipeline of follow-on work within the same team, providing continuity and long-term opportunity beyond the initial phase.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical project delivery from preconstruction through to completion
* Manage subcontractors, site teams, and engineering resources on a live city-centre scheme
* Drive programme, sequencing, and coordination across complex structural and fit-out phases
* Work closely with commercial teams to manage cost, variations, and procurement
* Oversee design development and ensure buildability across shell & core and fit-out stages
* Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships throughout delivery
* Ensure all works are delivered safely, to spec, and to programme

Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within an M&E contractor environment
* Strong background delivering shell & core and commercial fit-out projects
* Experience working on complex, constrained, or city-centre developments
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage project performance
* Confident communicator with the ability to lead teams and coordinate stakeholders
* Hands-on, delivery-focused mindset with a collaborative approach
