Construction Senior Estimator

Our client is a Construction Management and General Contracting firm headquartered in New York City specializing in commercial interiors around the nation. They pride themselves on accountability, diversity, teamwork and excellence. The company's successful growth has led to the opening of an additional two openings in the Manhattan, NY office.

Our client's Core & Shell team and Interiors Team are seeking a Senior Project Estimator with a strong tenure in the construction industry (preferably within Core & Shell Estimating) or (Interior Estimating) to join their growing department. The Senior Project Estimator serves a vital function in the growth of our client's family. As a Sr. Project Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project and review subcontractor bids in order to choose the most cost-effective option(s).

Responsibilities

Prepare estimates that represent the full scope of work from design reports with little to no information available on drawings;
Prepare detailed conceptual budgets from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documents;
Deliver conceptual and/or detailed estimates for a wide range of development types (Commercial, Residential, Hotel/Hospitality, as well as complete building re-positioning);
Perform detailed take-offs of all trades prepare budget trade detail, and compile and organize estimate data;
Initiate and manage entire bid process (CM and GC) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packages and assure accurate and proper submissions/proposals by all subcontractors;
Coordinate and participate in scope review/contract buy-out meetings with subcontractors, including timely review of associated bid forms, subcontractor's pricing, and trade scope of work and general conditions;
Prepare scope of work checklists for sub-contractors to perform bid leveling and comparisons;
Perform quantity surveying for all trades and complete project;
Conduct value-engineering analysis by reviewing design options and recommending cost-reducing solutions;
Provide a detailed review of all documentation and develop comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate client's project and strategic goals;
Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining accuracy of cost information;
Serve as main point of contact with engineers, architects, clients, subcontractors and operations teams to deliver projects in accordance with proposal guidelines;
Maintain accurate and up to date pricing information from databases, contractors, suppliers, and other cost resources to utilize in estimates;
Attend weekly meeting with the design team and the Client for guidance, pricing assistance, project coordination, reviewing constructability issues, and analyzing alternate means and methods to determine the most economic alternatives;
Build effective relationships with clients, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.

Qualifications and Skills

At least six years of relevant experience in budgeting/estimating ground-up/ interiors and large-scale renovation of residential, hospitality and mixed-use projects
Knowledge of GMP style estimating and leveling process
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to work well under pressure of deadlines and meet them
Demonstrate proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specifications
Knowledge of New York City subcontractor base and market pricing, union and non-union preferably

Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), On-Screen Take Off (preferred but not required), and Procore (preferred but not required
