About the Role
1st Step Solutions are supporting a M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for a Planner to join their London team.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Planner with a strong background in MEP scheduling and project control. This role requires expertise in developing detailed project programmes using tools such as Asta Powerproject, as well as experience with 3D and 4D planning solutions. The successful candidate will split their time approximately 80/20 between supporting live projects and pre-construction/tender activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, update, and maintain detailed project programmes, with a particular focus on MEP works, using Asta Powerproject and other 3D/4D planning tools.
* Take full ownership of the MEP activity schedule across all assigned projects, ensuring integration with overall construction programmes.
* Provide planning support for both live projects (80%) and tender submissions (20%), ensuring accurate and timely programme delivery.
* Collaborate closely with project managers, MEP leads, and commercial teams to align planning outputs with delivery strategies and site conditions.
* Offer an independent and objective perspective on project performance, highlighting deviations from the programme and advising on corrective actions.
* Generate and issue periodic progress updates, including drop lines, lookaheads, and progress reports, to track performance against baseline programmes.
* Contribute to risk identification and mitigation strategies through proactive planning insights.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in planning and scheduling, ideally within the MEP sector.
* Proficient in the use of Asta Powerproject; experience with 3D and 4D planning tools is essential.
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies, particularly within MEP disciplines.
* Ability to work independently and provide clear, data-driven insights to project teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Detail-oriented with a structured approach to planning and reporting.
